Saturday Sports Update
Top: Much of the spotlight for Friday's game between the New York Yankees and Chicago Cubs was directed at Carlos Rodon (left), as he made his debut in pinstripes after beginning the year on the injured list. Rodon navigated his way through 5 1/3 innings on the hill, surrendering two runs on four hits. However, it was former Yankee Jameson Taillon (right) who got the win. Taillon, who has had a tough season, turned in his best outing of the season: one hit in eight shutout innings as the Cubs defeated the Bronx Bombers 3-0. Photos by USA Today

On Friday, the Buffalo native and number 4 seed in the women's draw had a relatively easy go of it, defeating Elisabetta Cocciaretto 6-4, 6-0 in Round 3. Bottom right: Victor Wembanyama got his first taste of NBA hoops on Friday. The 7'5" French center, who was taken with the first overall pick in the NBA Draft, made his debut in a Summer League game for the San Antonio Spurs, scoring nine points and grabbing eight rebounds in a 76-68 win over the Charlotte Hornets. He shot just 3-for-19 from the floor, but said afterwards that he expects to get better as the Summer League goes on. Photo by USA Today
