A former Jamestown CODE employee is facing charges stemming from an investigation into unauthorized use of a credit card. The investigation by Jamestown Police revealed that 37-year-old Joey Weise had allegedly used a CODE credit card to make personal purchases while he was employed as a maintenance worker for CODE at 411 Winsor Street. Fredonia Mayor Athanasia Landis is hopeful to have a new Village Attorney by sometime next month. Erie County Sheriff Tim Howard issued an update Tuesday in last month's deadly accident in Zoar Valley that claimed the lives of a Buffalo couple and injured their two children. In a statement, Howard said, "although our investigation remains open and detectives are prepared to speak to the family, the Sheriff's Office will only do so when the family and the boys are prepared to speak." more

State Police in Jamestown say a Pennsylvania man had a blood alcohol level of twice the legal limit after they stopped him for speeding on I-86 in Randolph on Sunday. Troopers say they pulled over 31-year-old Nathan Viglione of New Castle and found him to be intoxicated after failing several standard field sobriety tests. A 15-year-old has been petitioned to Chautauqua County Family Court after an investigation into an arson involving a garbage can at a Jamestown city park earlier this month. A federal appeals court has overturned the 2015 corruption convictions of Dean Skelos, the former majority leader of the New York State Senate, and his son Adam. State Police responded to the scene of a crash involving a car that struck a tractor-trailer that was parked along Route 60 in the town of Pomfret late Monday. The Observer is reporting that the female driver of the car and an infant were transported to Brooks Memorial Hospital.
