State lawmakers have ended the legislative session in Albany, but there may be some unfinished business and that could have some impact on Chautauqua County. Legislators ended the session without renewing New York City Mayor Bill deBlasio's ability to control the city school system. As a result, Assembly Democrats have reportedly tied mayoral control to the renewal of sales taxes in 53 counties. more

Both the Senate and Assembly in Albany have passed legislation sponsored by area State Senator Cathy Young that would strengthen Kendra's Law and extend its provisions over the next five years. The search for a missing Westfield man has ended, with the discovery of his body Wednesday afternoon in the village of Westfield.
