Chautauqua County Executive Elect George Borrello today announced the formation of his transition team as he prepares to take office on January 1. Borrello will succeed current County Executive Vince Horrigan who is leaving office for retirement at the end of the year.  Borrello, who appeared on WDOE's Viewpoint program, says the eight member team is made up of people from across the county. more

Cattaraugus County Sheriff's deputies have made an arrest in connection with last weekend's fatal accident in the Town of Salamanca. Deputies charged 21-year-old Damion Taylor of Salamanca with one count of 2nd-degree manslaughter, and he is being held in the Cattaraugus County Jail in lieu of $100,000 cash bail. A 53-year-old Collins man has been arrested after allegedly committing a sex act with a four-year-old girl. Dunkirk city lawmakers have approved a proposed 2018 city budget by a unanimous vote Tuesday. Chautauqua County Fire investigators are looking into what is being deemed a suspicious fire in the Town of Pomfret. Fredonia firefighters were called to a couch fire inside an unoccupied trailer at 5281 Berry Road shortly after 2:00 PM Tuesday.
