Sunday Sports Update
Top: It was a merciless, one-sided beating in Orchard Park. The Buffalo Bills had their way with the New England Patriots in Saturday night's AFC Wild Card Playoff game at Highmark Stadium, blowing them out by a 47-17 score to advance to next week's divisional round. Tight end Dawson Knox (left) got the party started for the Bills with two touchdown catches in the 1st quarter and came inches away from getting a third later in the game. Meanwhile, running back Devin Singletary (right) motored his way for two touchdowns of his own in the 2nd quarter. By game's end, the Bills had scored a touchdown on all seven of their meaningful offensive possessions and became the first team in NFL history to complete a game without attempting a punt, attempting a field goal, or committing a turnover. Bottom: Two Fredonia High School football players received All-State honors this week from the New York State Sportswriters Association. Quarterback Nick Whitfield (left) was named to NYSSWA's Class C First-Team Offense, while linebacker Matt Lotter (right) earned a spot on the Class C First-Team Defense. Both seniors led the Hillbillies to a 10-1 record, a Class C South division title, and an appearance in the Section VI Class C championship game during the fall season. Photos by Sykotyk Football
