Robert James Barone, 86, of Dunkirk passed away on Saturday, April 6, 2024. He was born in Dunkirk on April 10, 1937, the son of the late Russell and Mary (Fadale) Barone.
Robert, a United States Navy veteran, served his country from 1955-1958 aboard the Naval Ship, the U.S.S. Yellowstone Shenandoah-Class destroyer, completing two tours of the Mediterranean coast.
Robert was an avid hunter, fishermen, skeet league and lifetime member of the Conservation Club.
Robert was an accomplished plumber working for Carlisle Plumbing in his young years and spent 30+ years as a pipefitter and steel laborer at Al Tech Steel Plant in Dunkirk.
Robert leaves behind his wife, Donna of 53 years; daughter, Kara (Scott); sons, Craig (Kristy) and Shawn (Brenda) Barone; grandchildren, Noah Hulbirt, Stacey (William) Quagliana, Olivia Hulbirt, Christian and Kaitlyn Barone; one brother, Louis Barone; as well as several nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, Robert was preceded in death by siblings, Marilyn, JoAnn, Edward, and twin brother Francis Barone.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend calling hours on Sunday, April 14 from 2:00-5:00 PM at the McGraw-Kowal Funeral Home, 736 Central Avenue in Dunkirk, where a Veteran Memorial Service will be conducted by the Dunkirk Joint Veterans Council at 4:30 PM.
