A vacant house on Jamestown's north side was destroyed in an early morning fire on Friday. Jamestown Fire Battalion Chief Keith Olson says crews were called to 813 Spring Street near Love Elementary School shortly after 5:00 AM and found the 2 1/2-story house heavily involved in flames. Olson says the blaze apparently started inside a shed near the back of the house before spreading to the house...
Keith Olson: how they attacked the fire
Olson says it took approximately 20 minutes to bring the fire under control. He says no one was hurt, and the city's Department of Development ordered an emergency demolition of the house. Olson adds that neighbors informed firefighters that some people had been coming and going from the house, which has no services hooked up. The cause is under investigation. Friday's fire caused the nearby school to operate on a two-hour delay.
