Firefighters from nine departments were called out to a report of a fully involved fire inside a small animal barn late Sunday morning in the Town of Ellery. County dispatchers say crews from Ellery Center, Bemus Point, Ashville, Dewittville, Fluvanna, Gerry, Maple Springs, Sinclairville and Stockton responded to 4788 Ellery-Centralia Road shortly after 11:15 AM. Chautauqua County EMS and County Fire Police were also called to the scene. The Chautauqua County Fire Investigation Team determined that an electrical issue caused the fire inside the barn, which contained goats and chickens. Those animals were saved by owners and community members who stopped to assist.
