While most counties across the state saw an increase in sales tax collections, Chautauqua and Cattaraugus counties did not. In fact according the State Comptroller's Office, they were the only two counties in the state not to see an increase. According to the report, Chautauqua County's collections declined by 2.9 percent. The report notes that Chautauqua County reduced its tax rate from 3.75 percent to 3.5 percent in 2011.
