Firefighters from Westfield and Ripley responded to a vehicle fire on the New York State Thruway early this morning. The fire involved a tractor-trailer in the eastbound lanes near milepost 477 in the town of Portland shortly before 1 am. The Chautauqua County Sheriff's Dispatch Center reports there were no injuries. The area was cleared about three hours later. No word on what caused the fire.
