An upgraded water interconnect is closer to becoming a reality after a meeting of officials from both the village of Fredonia and City of Dunkirk on Wednesday. The project would involve a 20-inch water line that would run from the city's water tank on Willowbrook Avenue in Dunkirk connect with the existing 24-inch line on Water Street in Fredonia. On Monday, Fredonia Mayor Steve Keefe says the project would nearly triple of flow of water between both communities when its needed.
Keefe-Interconnect would improve water flow
August Maas of Hill Engineering Inc. presented a plan for the interconnect during the meeting held in Fredonia. According to the Observer, officials from both communities seemed receptive to the project. A revised plan for a North County Water Project includes an interconnect. Keefe says it could be an "easy lift" should it become part of the final plans.
