One person died in Thursday night's massive house fire in the Town of Ellicott. A total of twelve fire companies were called to 3161 Moon Road around 10:40 PM. While battling the blaze, crews found an elderly male inside the house. County Coroner John Sixbey says 93-year-old Arthur Carlson died of smoke inhalation. The Chautauqua County Fire Investigation Team determined that the fire was caused by an electical wire that had been compromised in a crawl space under the kitchen. The wire shorted out, causing the floor to ignite and spread to the rest of the house. No other injuries were reported. The fire and death are being ruled accidental. Firefighters from Fluvanna were first at the scene, and were lated joined by crews from Gerry, Ellery Center, Bemus Point, Busti, Ellington, Sinclairville, Kennedy, Kiantone, Frewsburg, Falconer, and Dewittville.
