SUNY Fredonia Interfaith Coalition Panel Discussion iCal

Tuesday, November 14 2023 4:30 PM - 6:30 PM

Members of the State University of New York at Fredonia community have convened an Interfaith Coalition to foster understanding across religious faiths on campus and in the local community.

The kick-off event for the initiative is a panel presentation by community members of different faiths to discuss the pathways to developing a sense of purpose and respect for their lives and others. A question and answer session will follow the panel presentation.

The event is slated for Tuesday, November 14th from 4:30-6:30 PM in the Multipurpose Room in the Williams Center.

The event is free and open to the public. Students and community members are encouraged to bring family and friends to the conversation and help to develop a global community in the Village of Fredonia.

Organizers noted that emotional, psychological, and social issues have increased significantly in the post-COVID era and the coalition seeks to explore the spiritual aspects of mental health and well-being. They added that spirituality often provides ways to manage stress through a sense of peace, purpose, gratitude and forgiveness. Moreover, the nature of spirituality varies for every religion, and through ongoing discussions the hope is to facilitate students and community members learning on how various religions practice and manage mental health and well-being.
