A New York State Thruway Authority maintenance worker died after getting struck by a vehicle on I-90 westbound Monday morning in the Town of Hanover. State Police responded to the scene just east of Exit 58 in Irving at about 8:00 AM. A report released this week by New York State Comptroller Thomas DiNapoli finds that local government sales tax collections totaled $5.98 billion in the third quarter of this year, which is 1.4% higher than the same period in 2023. Firefighters from multiple departments were called to a report of a large garbage fire at the Chautauqua County Landfill on Sunday. The initial call for the fire in the Town of Ellery came in shortly after 7:45 AM. County dispatchers say crews from Sinclairville, Cassadaga, Gerry and Ellery Center responded to the scene.
