Sunday Sports Update
Top: After losing 16 consecutive games, the Dunkirk High School boys basketball team ended its regular season with consecutive wins. On Saturday, the Marauders defeated Chautauqua Lake 59-52, two days after a four-point win over Silver Creek. The Thunderbirds got a game-high 26 points from senior Lawson Ormsby (left), but the Marauders overcame an early 13-point deficit and finished the game on a 12-2 run to get the win. The three-point shooting of senior Louis Nunez (right) proved to be key for the Marauders; all 16 of his points came in the second half, including four makes from beyond the arc. Bottom right: After getting outshot 27-13 through two periods, the Buffalo Sabres became more aggressive in the 3rd period, and that's what got them the win on Saturday.
