Sunday Sports Update
Top: It wasn't pretty for the Buffalo Bills on Saturday, and that's putting it mildly. In their preseason contest against the Pittsburgh Steelers, the Bills gave up big plays and committed a whopping 12 penalties in the first half in a 27-15 loss that wasn't nearly as close as the final score indicates. Their defense allowed a 62-yard touchdown run and a 21-yard touchdown pass in the 1st quarter to fall into an early 14-0 hole, and the Bills didn't get on the board until the 4th quarter. Josh Allen (right), who sat out Buffalo's first preseason game last week, played a full quarter on Saturday, throwing for 64 yards on 7-for-10 passing. Photos by the Buffalo Bills
Bottom left: The New York Yankees turned to their ace on Saturday in an effort to snap their six-game winning streak. But Gerrit Cole gave up two home runs, including a grand slam, in four innings of work as the Yankees' skid extended to seven games with an 8-1 loss in the Bronx. Cole did not get any help from New York's bats, which managed only two hits on the day. Photo by USA Today
Bottom right: All Spain needed was one goal to win the Women's World Cup. Earlier today, a goal in the 29th minute propelled the Spanish women past England to their first ever World Cup crown. The game-winner was scored by Olga Carmona, who also had a game-winner in the semifinal round against Sweden to get Spain to this finals. Photo by FIFA
