Barbara L. Johnson

Barbara L. Johnson, 97, of Jamestown passed away peacefully at her home, surrounded by her loving family, on Saturday, October 17, 2026. She was born on October 15, 1929 in Jamestown to the late Edgar and Isabelle Keifer.

Barb enjoyed playing bingo, watching game shows and Hallmark movies, and playing cards. She was also a wonderful cook who loved making her family's favorite food, such as goulash, fried potatoes, and peanut butter fudge. Cooking for her family was one of the many ways she showed her love, and these special favorites will always bring back memories.

Barb also enjoyed sitting on the porch at camp, watching the birds, and spending time with her beloved dog, Milty, who was never far from her side and loved sitting beside her. She always kept an eye on the bird feeders and made sure her daughter, Brenda, knew when they needed to be filled. It was these simple pleasures, along with the time she spent with those she loved, that made her happiest.

But above all else, Barb's greatest joy was her family. She was always there for her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren, giving them her love and support. She never missed an opportunity to show up for her family, whether it was a sporting event, dance recital, band concert, race, graduation, birthday party, and especially the Johnson family Christmas party. She took great pride in being there to share in their special moments and accomplishments.

Barb was loved by so many, and she will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her. Her family will forever treasure the memories, traditions, and love she leaves behind.

She was also incredibly grateful to be able to live with Brenda, who cared for her with so much love and devotion, and our entire family will be forever thankful for all that she did.

She is survived by her five children, Debby (Greg) Gross, Brenda Olson, Craig (Donna) Johnson, Milt (Judy) Johnson and Bradley (Marvin) Johnson; eight grandchildren, Heather (Daniel) Becker, Jenny (Gail) Grosch, Bryan (Shannon) Olson, James (Heather) Alexander, Kim Olson, Kelly (Colton) Johnson, Blake (Vanessa) Johnson and Casey (Jason) Gernatt; and 25 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her beloved husband of 60 years, Milton G. Johnson; her brothers, Fred and Dennis Keifer; and her granddaughter, Kristin L. Johnson.

A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date.

Arrangements are by R. Michael Mackowiak III, McGraw-Kowal Funeral Home, 736 Central Avenue in Dunkirk. Share condolences at www.mcgrawkowalfuneralhome.com.
