Mary Ellen Esther Austin Emmott, 96, went to be with her Lord and Savior on Monday, February 17, 2025 at Heritage Green in Greenhurst. She was born in Warsaw on August 29, 1928.
Mary Ellen attended Cassadaga Valley Central School and graduated in 1946. She married Carl N. Emmott on April 20, 1947 in the home of her parents in Sinclairville.
Mary Ellen was a fabulous cook, did hair for ladies in the community, cleaned homes and babysat children. Most notably, she worked summers for many years as the leader of the Sinclairville Recreation Grounds. She was an active member of the Sinclairville Baptist Church.
Mary Ellen is predeceased by her parents, Emma and Lloyd Carpenter; her brothers, Rolland Carpenter and Alfred Carpenter; great-grandson, Timothy Hadley; and her dear husband of 70 years, Carl. She is survived by her brother, Larry Carpenter of Dover, PA; her three children, Lynda (Lyndon) Hadley of North Vernon, IN, David (Dawn) Emmott of Sinclairville and Kathy (John) Meabon of Rochester; as well as 12 grandchildren, 39 great-grandchildren, and nine great-great-grandchildren.
A memorial service at Sinclairville Baptist Church will be held at a later date.
Arrangements are by the Jordan Funeral Home, 6 Parkway Drive in Sinclairville.
