Janet Priscilla Dibble, 88, formerly of Lakewood, went home to be with the Lord on Monday, May 1, 2023. Jan, first and foremost, was a follower of Jesus. She sought Him daily in His word and prayer. She relied on Him.
Jan was born on October 17, 1934 in Falconer, the daughter of the late Marvin J. and Gladys Page Nelson. She spent her earlier years as a waitress for several restaurants, most notably Hare 'n Hounds in Bemus Point. She later made her career on the Thruway as a supervising toll collector in Ripley. She retired in 1995 after more than 20 years of dedicated service.
Janet loved doing puzzles; she had well over 700 of them. She also loved playing the piano, writing and animals. She had a pet Conure named "Oliver" for many years.
Janet is survived by her daughter, Rebecca "Becky" Dibble of New Jersey; two sons, Scott Dibble of Cassadaga and Bart (Leslie) Dibble of Jamestown; nine grandchildren, Amanda, Jessica, Jeff, Adam, Joel, Alex, Raisa, Jacob and Martin; and 14 great-grandchildren. Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by her brother, Marvin J. Nelson, Jr.; her sister, Suzannah J. Nelson; and her daughter-in-law, Vanessa A. Dibble.
There will be a viewing on Sunday, May 7 from 2:00-4:00 PM at Lind Funeral Home, 805 West 3rd Street in Jamestown, followed by the funeral at 4:00 PM.
