Frank A. Halicki, 82, of Dunkirk, died peacefully Friday morning August 28, 2015 at Lake Shore Hospital, Irving, with his loving family at his side. Born July 31, 1933, the son of the late John Halicki and Angeline Blazejewicz Halicki of Dunkirk, NY.
He operated Halicki's garage along with his late brother Rudolph Halicki for many years, a business founded by their late father in 1919. He was known for his love of cars, especially Corvettes, Packard Convertibles and Cadillacs.
He served in the U.S. Army and was a member of the Kosciuszko Club, Moose Club, Conservation Club and Beaver Club.
He worked on the unfinished "Gone in 60 Seconds II" with his late brother "Toby" HB Halicki in 1989. He helped with many of the vehicles used in the local filming.
One of 13 children, he is survived by a daughter, Janell Halicki of Buffalo, NY; a sister, Angeline Halicki of Dunkirk, NY; Allegra "Bonnie" Davis Burke of Santa Rosa, CA; and brothers, Bud "FV" Halicki of Fayetteville PA and Ron Halicki of Dunkirk. Besides his father and mother, he was predeceased by the late Rudolph Halicki, Edward Halicki, Joseph Halicki, Edward Halicki, Joseph Halicki, John Halicki, Jr., Toby HB Halicki, Helen V. Ostrye, Carolyn Kszos, and Tara Glasier.
There will be no public viewing or visitation. Per his request, his body was donated to Buffalo University Medical School.
