18-Year-Old Jamestown Man Charged in Gang Assault at Riverwalk

A Jamestown man is facing charges after he and three others allegedly attacked someone on the city's Riverwalk early Wednesday. Jamestown Police were alerted to an in-progress assault behind the Oriental Star restaurant at about 2:45 AM. Three subjects who were later identified as 18-year-old Julio Arizmendi and two juveniles ran across Main Street as officers arrived, and they were apprehended after a short pursuit. An investigation found that Arizmendi, both juveniles and an unknown black male allegedly attacked the victim with a stick, a knife, an imitation pistol and a glass bottle. Officers say the glass bottle was smashed over the victim's head. The victim was seriously injured and treated at UPMC Chautauqua. Arizmendi is being held in the Jamestown City Jail pending arraignment on charges of 1st-degree gang assault, 2nd-degree assault, two counts of 4th-degree criminal possession of a weapon, and resisting arrest.
