Four officers at the Lakeview Correctional Facility near Brocton were recently injured as the result of an attack by a 34-year-old inmate inside his cell at the facility. According to the New York State Correctional Officers and Police Benevolent Association (NYSCOPBA), the incident took place on February 26th during the evening meal delivery for inmates locked inside their cells. The inmate allegedly attacked and cut two officers with a sharpened piece of plastic, then later charged at facility staff members. During a subsequent altercation, he allegedly cut one officer in the chest and neck with the piece of plastic and another officer on the chin. According to the NYSCOPBA, three officers were transported to Westfield Memorial Hospital for treatment, while the fourth officer was treated by facility medical staff and remained on duty. The inmate is currently serving a 12-year prison sentence after he was convicted in 2017 for possessing and selling large quantities of heroin in Nassau County.
