The National Weather Service in Buffalo has issued a winter storm warning for most of Western New York. The warning will run from 10:00 AM Saturday until 7:00 AM Monday for Chautauqua, Cattaraugus and Erie counties. Heavy lake effect snow and strong winds are expected during that time. In Chautauqua and Cattaraugus counties, total snow accumulation of 8-17 inches and wind gusts up to 60 MPH are expected, while Erie County is expected to see one to three feet of snow and wind gusts up to 65 MPH. Blizzard conditions will be possible at times. Travel will be very difficult to impossible. Widespread blowing snow could significantly reduce visibility. Strong winds could cause tree damage.
Meanwhile, a high wind warning remains in effect from 4:00 PM Friday through 4:00 AM Sunday, and a lake shore flood warning remains in effect from 7:00 AM Saturday through 4:00 AM Sunday.
