County Legislature Democrats to Propose Measure to Address Housing Issues

Chautauqua County Legislature Democrats plan to propose a measure next month that would allow the county to partner with local cities, towns and villages to address some longstanding housing issues. Legislator Tom Nelson, who recently offered the proposal, says the resolution would create a "pro-housing communities" work group, which would work together to attract some of the $650 million in discretionary funding Governor Kathy Hochul proposed as part of the "Pro-Housing Communities Program." It's a statewide initiative to give priority consideration for those funds to local governments who are committed to housing growth...
Tom Nelson: awarding funds
The program was announced by Hochul in August as part of a package of executive actions to promote housing growth, and invites municipalities to apply for "Pro-Housing Community" certification. Those communities will get priority over other localities in their applications for some of those funds.
