Five corrections officers were transported to a local hospital for minor injuries as the result of an incident on April 6th involving several New York State Department of Corrections and Community Supervision (DOCCS) staff and two inmates at the Lakeview Shock Incarceration Correctional Facility near Brocton. DOCCS confirmed the incident Wednesday afternoon in a e-mail to WDOE News. According to DOCCS, none of the injured officers required admission to the hospital, and all have been released. The incident is under investigation.
DOCCS also issued the following statement:
The safety and well-being of our staff and incarcerated individuals is our top priority. The Department has zero tolerance for violence within our facilities and anyone engaged in misconduct will be disciplined. If warranted, incidents will be referred for outside prosecution.
