Flames Destroy Restaurant in Town of Ellery

A restaurant in the Town of Ellery was destroyed by fire early Sunday. The Chautauqua County Sheriff's Office reports that the blaze at Homestead Cafe and Catering broke out just before 2:15 AM. Fluvanna Fire responded to a report of a fully involved fire with flames showing out of the front and back of the building. Firefighters from Ellery Center, Gerry, Sinclairville, Bemus Point, Ashville, Maple Springs, Dewittville, Sherman and Chautauqua also responded, along with Chautauqua County Emergency Services, County Fire Police, and the Sheriff's Office. There were no injuries reported. The Chautauqua County Fire Investigation Team is actively investigating, but has not determined the cause at this time. A portion of Route 430 between Dutch Hollow Road and Belleview Road was closed for several hours while firefighters battled the blaze.
