The State DEC and Chautauqua County announced on Thursday the completion of a Local Waterfront Revitalization Program project to install ADA accessible kayak launching at five locations in the county. Chautauqua County Executive P.J. Wendel was on hand at the Cattaraugus Creek Boat Launch in Hanover, one of the five locations. Wendel says the new kayak launches are a great way for people to access the county's waterways...

The other four kayak launches are located at the Walnut Creek Boat Launch in Silver Creek, Dunkirk Harbor in the City of Dunkirk, Barcelona Harbor near Westfield, and near the Route 394 bridge in the towns of Busti and North Harmony.
The $97,000 project was funded in part by a $73,000 Environmental Protection Fund (EPF) LWRP grant awarded to Chautauqua County to enhance public access to recreational activities along Lake Erie and Chautauqua Lake. The remaining match was provided by the municipalities, Lake Erie Management Commission (LECM), and the Chautauqua Watershed Conservancy.
