UPDATE: Jamestown Man Charged with Murder in Fatal Stabbing

Jamestown Police have made an arrest in connection with Monday night's fatal stabbing in the south county city. Officers say 28-year-old Carl Sorenson has been charged with 2nd-degree murder for allegedly stabbing 23-year-old Brandon Holland in the chest while he was walking on the sidewalk along North Main Street near East 4th Street at about 10:00 PM. Police Captain Bob Samuelson says there was an apparent altercation between Sorenson and Holland earlier in the day...

Holland later died from his injuries at UPMC Chautauqua. Sorenson, who is also on New York State Parole, was taken into custody Tuesday afternoon at his apartment on Washington Street, and is currently in the Jamestown City Jail awaiting arraignment. The investigation is continuing, and additional charges are pending further investigation. The Chautauqua County District Attorney's Office assisted with the investigation.
