With less than a week to go before Election Day, the gap between incumbent Democrat Kathy Hochul and Republican challenger Bruce Blakeman has apparently widened in the race for the Governor's mansion. According to the results of the latest Siena University poll released on Wednesday, Hochul has a 54-40% lead over the Nassau County Executive. The 14-point advantage is five points greater compared to last month's Siena poll, which had Hochul up 50-41%. According to Siena pollster Steven Greenberg, Blakeman and Hochul are "running virtually evenly upstate and in the downstate suburbs, while Hochul has an 11-point lead with independents." The poll was conducted October 19-22 among 807 likely New York voters and has a +/-4.1% margin of error.
