Chautauqua County saw its unemployment rate tick down by two-tenths of a percent in September. According to preliminary statistics released Tuesday by the New York State Department of Labor, the county's jobless rate for the month was 4.4%. It's slightly higher than the state's seasonally adjusted unemployment rate of 4.3%. One year ago, the county's unemployment rate was 4.2%. Additional data shows that Chautauqua County had approximately 600 more people employed compared to September 2025, while about 200 more people were listed as unemployed over that same period.
