A Chautauqua County grand jury recently indicted a Kennedy man on six counts of rape in connection with an incident that happened in Kennedy on or around May 31st. According to Michael Pisko, a prosecutor with the Chautauqua County District Attorney's Office, the indictment charges 34-year-old Major Stearns with three Class B felony counts of 1st-degree rape and three Class E felony counts of 3rd-degree rape. The charges were the result of an investigation by State Police. Stearns was arraigned following the indictment on August 25th and was committed to the Chautauqua County Jail on $150,000 cash bail or $250,000 property bond. Pisko tells WDOE News that Stearns has since posted bail.
