Jamestown Community College has been awarded $1.29 million from the New York Power Authority. Governor Kathy Hochul, who announced the funding on Tuesday, says it will be used to support the development of a three-course nuclear manufacturing micro-credential and a welder certification-based training pathway, both of which will integrate nuclear content into welding, mechatronics, and engineering programs. The award also covers career services, materials, and certification-related costs. The award is part of $10 million in funding from NYPA to support workforce development programs across the state designed to prepare New Yorkers for careers in the emerging nuclear energy industry.
