Two volunteer fire departments in Chautauqua County will receive funding through FEMA's Assistance to Firefighters Grant (AFG) Program. Congressman Nick Langworthy announced Monday that the Sinclairville Fire Department has been awarded over $97,142, while the Kiantone Fire Department will receive over $50,988. According to FEMA, the primary goal of these grants is to enhance the safety and effectiveness of first responders while also improving their ability to respond to emergencies and disasters. They aim to address the evolving needs of first responders, from advanced equipment acquisition and updating aging vehicles to safety improvement and training programs.
