The race for the Governor's Mansion appears to be getting closer, according to the results of a new Siena University poll released on Wednesday. The poll of likely New York State voters has incumbent Democrat Kathy Hochul leading Republican challenger Bruce Blakeman 50-41%. An August poll had Hochul up 49-39%. While half of the likely voters polled said they are supporting Hochul, the poll also found that two-thirds of likely voters think the Western New Democrat will retain her seat. A Siena pollster noted that at this time in 2022, Hochul held a 17-point lead over Lee Zeldin before going on to win by six points. The poll was conducted September 11-17, with 1,144 respondents. The poll has an overall margin of error of +/-4.2%.
