9/11 Remembrance Ceremonies Scheduled Across County on Friday

Chautauqua County, along with local municipalities, this week will mark the 25th anniversary of the 9/11 terrorist attacks that took place in New York City, Washington, DC, and Pennsylvania. King was a flight attendant on board United Flight 175, which was the second plane hijackers flew into the Twin Towers. Wendel says this 25th anniversary provides residents the chance to pause and reflect on the profound impact of September 11th, and to honor the courage and sacrifice of those who responded, served, and continue to live with the lasting effects of that day.

Also on Friday, a service will take place at Westfield First Responders Memorial on North Portage Street at 8:30 AM. Dunkirk Professional Firefighters Local 616 will hold a remembrance ceremony at 9:00 AM at the Dunkirk Fire Hall. And the Fredonia Fire Department will host a remembrance ceremony at 11:00 AM.
