With Canada's 50% tariffs having taken effect on hundreds of American goods, New York's governor is calling on the state's seven GOP members of Congress to demand an end to the escalating trade war between Canada and the United States. On Tuesday, Kathy Hochul said the trade relationship between the two neighboring countries is critical for thousands of jobs New Yorkers rely on. Hochul adds that the federal government should be focused on returning $13.5 billion she says New Yorkers have overpaid due to additional costs from tariffs. The President, who recently imposed 50% tariffs on $20 billion worth of Canadian goods, has claimed that Canada has been unfairly discriminating against U.S. exports of automobiles, alcohol and dairy products.
