A feasibility study to look into consolidations and shared services in the Dunkirk-Fredonia area has begun. The Town of Pomfret, which is leading the way on the study, recently held a kickoff meeting with the Rochester-based Center for Governmental Research (CGR). That larger discussion includes a potential municipal merger including the Town of Dunkirk, City of Dunkirk, and Village of Fredonia. The study is being supported with grant money provided through Chautauqua County's Government Reduction Initiative.
