A Jamestown man was taken into custody on numerous charges stemming from a domestic dispute on the city's north side on Sunday. Jamestown Police responded to the scene at about 10:15 AM and were informed by the victim that 36-year-old Brantley Churchill had allegedly taken her vehicle without her permission. Officers subsequently determined that while driving the victim's vehicle, Churchill was involved in a crash and allegedly fled the scene. According to police, the on-scene investigation also found that a full stay-away order of protection had been issued by Jamestown City Court, directing Churchill to remain away from the victim. Churchill was located a short distance from the original scene. When officers tried to take him into custody, a brief struggle ensued; however, Churchill was subsequently apprehended without further incident and transported to the Jamestown City Jail. While at the jail, Churchill allegedly damaged property belonging to the facility and subsequently physically attacked officers, resulting in an officer to be injured. Churchill is being held in the jail pending arraignment on charges of 1st- and 2nd-degree criminal contempt, 4th-degree grand larceny, 2nd-degree assault, 3rd-degree unauthorized use of a motor vehicle, two counts of 4th-degree criminal mischief, and resisting arrest.
