
Chautauqua County saw its unemployment rate climb by two-tenths of a percent during the month of July. According to preliminary statistics released Tuesday by the New York State Department of Labor, the county's jobless rate for the month was 4.6%. It's also two-tenths of a percent higher compared to July 2025 and is higher than the state's seasonally adjusted unemployment rate of 4.4%. Additional Labor Department data finds that the county had approximately 300 fewer people employed and had about 100 more people listed as unemployed, compared to a year ago.
