Flames destroyed the upper portions of a vacant house on Jamestown's north side on Tuesday. City Fire Battalion Chief Ben McLaughlin says crews were called to the scene at 629 Prendergast Avenue shortly after 2:00 AM and found flames coming from the attic through the roof of the two-story structure. McLaughlin says firefighters were able to bring the blaze under control quickly, but not before the roof was burned off. No injuries were reported. Firefighters were at the scene for approximately five hours. The cause of the fire has not been determined.
