The Westfield Academy and Central School District announced this week that it will receive a pair of grants. One of them is a $142,238.09 award through the USDA Rural Utilities Service Distance Learning and Telemedicine Grant Program, which will support a complete revamp of the district's Distance Learning Room and Large Group Instruction Room. The district says that funding will bring in state-of-the-art technology, with planned enhancement to include professional PTZ cameras, advanced microphone and audio systems, interactive displays and large format screens, Zoom and video conferencing technology, enhanced collaboration tools, and expanded learning opportunities for students and staff. The district says this investment will help expand educational opportunities, strengthen collaboration, and support innovative learning experiences for its students, staff, and community partners.
The district will also receive cybersecurity resources through New York's State and Local Cybersecurity Grant Program. Through this award, Westfield will receive Multi-Factor Authentication (MFA) hardware tokens valued at approximately $17,429, supplementing existing security measures and further strengthening the protection of district systems and accounts. This investment supports the district's ongoing commitment to safeguarding student, staff, and district information while maintaining a secure learning environment.
