The Dunkirk Airport will be getting more funding through the FAA's Airport Improvement Program. Senators Charles Schumer and Kirsten Gillibrand announced Wednesday that the facility has been awarded $282,735 through the program to help upgrade airport facilities and equipment. According to both senators, this grant funds the design phase of a project to reconstruct runway signage that has reached the end of its useful life, reconstruct the precision approach path indicator system for two runway thresholds that has reached the end of its useful life, and rehabilitates 4,000 feet of existing paved runway to maintain the structural integrity and minimize foreign object debris to extend its useful life.
