A proposal to dissolve the Village of South Dayton failed at the ballot box on Tuesday. According to unofficial results from the Cattaraugus County Board of Elections, the referendum for dissolution was voted down by 78 village residents, while 55 voted in favor. Under the proposal, the village would have dissolved into the Town of Dayton as of May 31, 2027. The dissolution process may not be initiated again for at least four years after the referendum.
