Dunkirk Mayor Kate Wdowiasz is encouraged by the recent forum on advanced nuclear energy that took place at SUNY Fredonia. Wdowiasz, who was a guest on WDOE's "Viewpoint" program on Thursday, says the Nuclear 101 forum -- which had several local leaders in attendance -- was very informative. She adds that the presence of representatives from Genover -- who recently took over ownership of the former NRG facility in Dunkirk -- was a "big bonus"...
Kate Wdowiasz: very encouraging to see
According to Wdowiasz, Genover is very excited that the community is "cautiously moving forward" and is potentially open to nuclear development. She says if talks go any further, there could be community involvement very soon...
Kate Wdowiasz: something we may be receptive to
Wdowiasz also tells us that there was a conversation about a potential forum in the future that would be open to the public. The Nuclear 101 forum held on June 30th was open to invited leaders and community stakeholders. A forum last year in the City of Dunkirk was open to the public.
