The driver of a tour bus that was involved in a deadly crash on I-90 in Genesee County last summer has pleaded guilty to five counts of criminally negligent homicide. According to several regional media reports, 56-year-old Bin Shao of New York City entered his plea in Genesee County Court on Monday. Five people lost their lives in the crash on August 22nd, while 49 others were injured. Shao was originally charged with five counts of 2nd-degree manslaughter, but those counts were dropped. Shao told federal investigators in June that a non-empty water bottle rolled to his foot at the front of the bus, and he bent down to pick it up and throw it away, but it bounced out of a trash can. As a result, he lost control of the bus.
