Wednesdays will soon be filled with live music in Fredonia's Barker Common. A series called "8 Great Wednesdays in the Park" gets underway on July 1st and continues through August 19th. Festivals Fredonia Co-President Larry Fiorella says the organization has taken over the series formerly run by the Village of Fredonia. Fiorella says the first week in the series is Country Night, which will also include line dancing...

Fiorella adds that the first Wednesday will kick off with bagpipes, as well as Michael Key -- a direct descendant of Francis Scott Key -- performing the national anthem in recognition of the United States' 250th anniversary. He says the rest of July will feature Americana, classic rock, and hard rock music...

The themes in August will be Jazz Night, '50s and '60s Night, and Blues Night. Hours for all eight Wednesdays will be 5:30-8:30 PM. Fiorella says there is no cost to attend.
