
A Dunkirk man is being held on charges stemming from an investigation into a recent assault in the city. Dunkirk Police say they took a complaint shortly before midnight on June 23rd that the victim was allegedly struck in the head with an object and suffered substantial injuries in the area of East 2nd Street and Columbus Avenue. Police say an investigation identified 41-year-old Jesus Ramos, Jr. as the suspect. Officers located him later in the night and took him into custody, and they found that he was allegedly in possession of drug paraphernalia and 1.4 grams of suspected cocaine. Ramos was arraigned on charges of 2nd-degree assault, 5th-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance and 2nd-degree criminally using drug paraphernalia. He was then remanded to the Chautauqua County Jail without bail.
