Leaders Begin Discussions on Possible New Fire District in North County

Several local leaders gathered in Dunkirk Tuesday evening to begin exploring the possibility of creating a new fire district in the north county. The meeting at the SUNY Fredonia Center for Innovation and Economic Development was organized by Fredonia Fire Chief Joshua Myers and facilitated by Mayor Mike Ferguson and included representatives from a handful of local fire departments. Bankoski says there will be further discussion on the issue. He says the Fredonia, Dunkirk, West Dunkirk, East Dunkirk, Brocton and Lily Dale fire departments were invited to attend Tuesday's meeting.
