Chautauqua Institution Ready for 152nd Summer Assembly

Summer has arrived, and that means the beginning of a new season at Chautauqua Institution. The nine-week summer assembly officially gets underway with the ceremonial three taps of the gavel in the Amphitheater on Sunday at 10:45 AM. Institution spokesperson Jill McCormick says attendance on the grounds for Chautauqua's 152nd Summer Assembly should be "back to normal" following last year's 150th anniversary season...

Perhaps the biggest attraction for this summer's assembly will be renowned actor and movie producer Morgan Freeman, who will visit the grounds in Week 9. McCormick, who was a call-in guest on WDOE's "Viewpoint" program on Friday, says his visit is what she gets asked about more than anything for the season...
