Longtime WDOE morning show host Dan Palmer has been a supporter of education in Chautauqua County communities for 55 years, from doing the play-by-play of hundreds of high school sports games to honoring students for their education and athletic achievements. Now, he is being recognized in return. This week, Dan was at the Chautauqua Harbor Hotel in Celoron to receive the Chautauqua County School Boards Association's Friend of Education Award. CCSBA President Sylvester Cleary presented Dan the award during the organization's annual meeting and Honors Night. Dan's resume includes broadcasting hundreds of Section VI championship games and New York State Far West Regional contests, as well as 56 games from NYSPHSAA State Championship tournaments. He has called games for 10 state champions from the county.
