A Dunkirk man has been charged after an investigation into a shooting that occurred Thursday evening in the city. The pistol also contained an illegal high-capacity magazine. Sanchez was taken to Dunkirk Police headquarters and booked on charges of 2nd- and 3rd-degree criminal possession of a weapon, 1st-degree reckless endangerment, and unlawful discharge of a firearm. He was later arraigned in Dunkirk City Court and remanded to the Chautauqua County Jail on $10,000 bail. The Dunkirk Police Detective Bureau, Southern Tier Regional Drug Task Force, Fredonia Police Department and Chautauqua County Sheriff's Office assisted patrol officers in the investigation.
