Silver Creek Central School to Present Musical 'Mamma Mia'

Silver Creek High School invites the community to attend its presentation of the student musical "Mamma Mia" this weekend. There are three performances, scheduled for Friday through Sunday, and will feature 53 Silver Creek students in grades 7-12 as cast, pit band, and stage crew.

This beloved and hilarious story is a jukebox musical featuring ABBA's hit songs to tell this sunny and funny tale that unfolds on a Greek island paradise. Sophie Sheridan is a 20-year-old girl who is about to get married to her fiancé, Sky, and desperately wants her father to give her away at her wedding. The only problem? She doesn't know who her father is, and according to her mother's diary, she has three possible dads. Sophie invites them all to her wedding in hopes of finding out who her father is, all unbeknownst to Donna. Donna reminiscences with her best friends, Rosie and Tanya, about their past as "Donna and the Dynamos," but also about her lost love 20 years before.

The storytelling magic of ABBA's timeless songs propels this enchanting tale of love, laughter and friendship, creating an unforgettable show. Nonstop laughs and explosive dance numbers combine to make this musical one that will surely have the audience up dancing in the aisles (which will actually be encouraged at the end).

Performances will be held on Friday and Saturday at 7:00 PM, with a matinee on Sunday, 2:00 PM in the high school auditorium. The show's two acts will be split by a 15-minute intermission featuring a basket raffle, bake sale and "kiss the cast" fundraiser to support the district's Performing Arts Department and the Performing Arts Boosters. Tickets are $10 for general admission and $8 for students/senior citizens and can be purchased here.

This show is rated PG-13 due to language and innuendo, but the director and cast have made modifications to make it even more family-friendly.
